‘Tis The Season For Winter Parking Bans
Just recently got a copy of my free “Storm Guide Winter 2006-2007″ dropped on my front steps, by what was either a homeless man or a city worker (it was unclear which), and I actually learned something.
Now that it is snow emergency season, you can rest easy and take a break from playing street-cleaning-day-roulette, and just focus on the snow emergencies. In case you are wondering, snow emergencies happen whenever there is a big snowstorm, and the level of snowstorm bigness will be indicated by how high impact the graphics on your favorite local news station are.

ANYWAYS, let’s get to what I learned. I learned that certain areas in the city (downtown, The North End, main streets, etc) are marked as “snow emergency arteries”, which is helpful…but many areas of the city (Brighton for instance) does not have such markings in most places. This doesn’t mean you are safe and clear though when the snow starts piling up.
For unmarked secondary streets, you must park ONLY on the even numbered side of the streets during snow emergencies. An important tidbit, that I for one, did not know.
